What you get
A simple breakdown of the distance between two dates.
How to calculate the difference between two dates
Select a start and end date to compare calendar dates without relying on hours, time zones or timestamps.
- Choose a start date and an end date, then press Calculate difference.
- For example, 1 March 2026 to 8 March 2026 is 7 days: 1 week and 0 days. The start date is not counted as an additional day.
- Use Total days for a day count, Weeks + days for a weekly breakdown, and Calendar difference for years and months.
Both dates are compared as calendar dates, without time-of-day. The same date gives 0 days; reversing the date order gives a negative result. For weekdays rather than elapsed calendar days, use the linked Business Days Calculator (public holidays are not included there).
How many days are between 1 March and 8 March 2026?
There are 7 calendar days between these dates: exactly one week. The first date is not counted as an extra day; the same start and end date gives zero.
What if I reverse the dates, or need weekdays?
Reversing the dates produces a negative day difference. This tool measures elapsed calendar days, not working days or public holidays; use the Business Days Calculator for Monday-to-Friday counts.
